The Fabulous Singlettes
The Fabulous Singlettes were a three-girl highly-beehived comic singing group from Australia who took the fringe by storm with their tongue-in-cheek but musically impeccable renditions of those girl group soul masterpieces of the Sixties, such as The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss), Please Mr Postman, Nowhere To Run, Dancing In The Street and the like.
With a great momentum gained from successful Edinburgh runs, Channel 4 commissioned a one-hour special from them, which turned into an inch-perfect spoof set in 1960’s Earls Court, compete with coffee bar, DA’d boys and cars, clothes and cappuccinos to match. The show was produced and directed by Geoff Posner and the script was written by Andrew Nickolds, who had already worked extensively with Geoff on the Lenny Henry shows.
